{"id":1462,"date":"2015-06-29T18:57:00","date_gmt":"2015-06-29T18:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hamptonschatter.net\/chatter\/2015\/06\/29\/are-ticks-really-worse-this-year-plus\/"},"modified":"2017-02-13T21:15:28","modified_gmt":"2017-02-13T21:15:28","slug":"are-ticks-really-worse-this-year-plus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hamptonschatter.net\/chatter\/are-ticks-really-worse-this-year-plus\/","title":{"rendered":"ARE THE TICKS REALLY WORSE THIS YEAR?? &#8230; PLUS, WHEN GOOD STREETS GET BAD NAMES!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m sorry but I&#8217;m confused. \u00a0 This past Winter sucked&#8230; tons of snow&#8230; tons of cold&#8230;. a loooooong winter and yet &#8220;the ticks are worse than ever!&#8221; \u00a0 I thought if we had a cold winter then the tick population would be smaller. \u00a0 They froze right?! \u00a0But now, I keep hearing the ticks are worse this year because we had a cold winter! \u00a0My head is hurting. \u00a0This is more head ache inducing than watching Madonna act&#8230;. the same bad actress who apparently\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/nypost.com\/2015\/06\/28\/madonna-accused-of-farm-fraud-as-taxpayer-land-shields-mansion\/?_ga=1.245575364.1181755220.1433183910\" target=\"_blank\">doesn&#8217;t like paying taxes for her Hamptons spread!! <\/a>Hmmmmmm.<\/p>\n<table class=\"tr-caption-container\" style=\"float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/hamptonschatter.net\/chatter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Tick_poster.jpg?resize=133%2C200\" width=\"133\" height=\"200\" border=\"0\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"tr-caption\" style=\"text-align: center;\">PREVENTION !<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>But I digress, Recently I got an e mail from a Mr. Richard Feder from Fort Lee, NJ who writes. \u00a0 &#8220;Dear Hamptons Chatter, So what&#8217;s the real deal on the ticks this year? \u00a0 Which kind of tick just bit me? \u00a0Do I have Lyme disease or Lime disease? How do I remove a tick? \u00a0 Is it really worse this year than last year? \u00a0 What can I do to help keep ticks away?&#8221; \u00a0 \u00a0 Well Mr. Feder, you ask a lot of gross questions that I don&#8217;t want to answer. So instead, I&#8217;m suggesting you go visit the University of Rhode Island&#8217;s website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tickencounter.org.\/\">www.tickencounter.org.<\/a>\u00a0 There you&#8217;ll find the answers to everything you wanted to know about ticks that I found too gross to answer. \u00a0 One thing they do say on the site is that it is indeed worse this year than last year because of the cold. \u00a0Uggghhhhh. \u00a0Anyway, from the site&#8230; some good advice for parents&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EgmH7O6EaC4\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Another thing about the East End that I also find puzzling is the name of some of the streets out here. I mean it&#8217;s the Hamptons! \u00a0 Shouldn&#8217;t all the streets have beautiful and idyllic names? \u00a0 Well that&#8217;s my point. \u00a0 If you&#8217;re a home owner on one of these following streets, I suggest you get together with your neighbors and push for a name change. \u00a0 Not only might it help improve property values, it might also look a lot better on your next holiday card&#8217;s return address. \u00a0 \u00a0In no particular order by the way here are some streets that could benefit from a name change.*<\/p>\n<table class=\"tr-caption-container\" style=\"float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/hamptonschatter.net\/chatter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/swampmap.png?resize=320%2C166\" width=\"320\" height=\"166\" border=\"0\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"tr-caption\" style=\"text-align: center;\">Prime location&#8230; questionable name!<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Swamp Road -EH- As my friend Bill Mccuddy says, &#8220;only in the Hamptons will people pay $2 million to live on a road called Swamp.&#8221; \u00a0 \u00a0 My suggestion is to rename this Cedar Vista Way. \u00a0 \u00a0Isn&#8217;t that better?!<\/p>\n<p>Widow Gavits Road -Sag Harbor- OMG&#8230; really? \u00a0 So sad. \u00a0 How about we call it, &#8220;New Chapter Lane.&#8221; \u00a0 I mean no disrespect to Mr. Gavits but don&#8217;t you think it&#8217;s time she moves on?<\/p>\n<table class=\"tr-caption-container\" style=\"float: right; text-align: right;\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/hamptonschatter.net\/chatter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/milhouse.jpg?w=1200\" border=\"0\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"tr-caption\" style=\"text-align: center;\">You named a street after him?<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Van Houton Street &#8211; Southampton (Riverhead) &#8211; They named a street after Millhouse? \u00a0The geeky kid?! \u00a0How about Bart Boulevard instead. \u00a0It still has that comic appeal but less nerdy!<\/p>\n<p>Mount Misery &#8211; Sag Harbor &#8211; Put on the Barry Manilow albums and get me a razor blade! \u00a0It&#8217;s actually a really nice street and close to Sag Harbor Village \u00a0But oh that name!! \u00a0 So what to do? Let&#8217;s rename it Fallon Way&#8230; after Jimmy Fallon! \u00a0My favorite Hamptons celebrity who seems to always be happy and friendly to everyone! \u00a0OK, how do we start this petition!?<\/p>\n<p>Dead Trail &#8211; Southampton &#8211; It&#8217;s located right off of Bridies path&#8230;. so why not call it Groomies path?
