FORGET THE FLEA MARKET!  3 LOCAL GOTTA BUYS!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s not as glamorous as it sounds but I was recently driving back from Philadelphia to the Hamptons.\u00a0 \u00a0 I know, I know&#8230; the Outerbridge Crossing is New Jersey&#8217;s answer to the Pacific Coast Highway.\u00a0 But alas, I&#8217;m straying off point.\u00a0 \u00a0While taking said drive I stopped\u00a0 at the Long Island Visitors Center in Dix Hills which in case you didn&#8217;t know is the first non-disgusting place to stop after Trenton.\u00a0 \u00a0 It&#8217;s also the home of a little store called &#8220;A Tas<span style=\"color: var(--color-neutral-600);\">te of NY.&#8221;\u00a0 \u00a0The store features all locally made foods and products from area farm, vineyards and bakeries.\u00a0 \u00a0 This had me thinking, while we all know about the bigger local products like Tate&#8217;s Cookies and Wolffer wines.\u00a0 \u00a0There are some other great local products that you might have missed.\u00a0 \u00a0 Lucky for you, I&#8217;m here to share a few of my favorites.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-5096 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/hamptonschatter.net\/chatter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/vsc-bolo.jpg?resize=305%2C203\" alt=\"vsc bolo\" width=\"305\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/hamptonschatter.net\/chatter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/vsc-bolo.jpg?w=1800&amp;ssl=1 1800w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/hamptonschatter.net\/chatter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/vsc-bolo.jpg?resize=768%2C512&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 305px) 100vw, 305px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Vine Street Cafe&#8217;s Mushroom Bolognese Sauce<\/strong> &#8211; A hearty alternative for your vegan dinner guests, this stuff is just as good as visiting the restaurant.\u00a0 Seriously, this is not like buying Emeri&#8217;s stuff which is more like Ragu with a different label!\u00a0 I&#8217;ve always loved this dish at the restaurant and this is pretty close to dining out.\u00a0 \u00a0 While VSC has other sauces including a basic tomato and vegetable to go,\u00a0 this one is IMHO<em> the<\/em> winner.\u00a0 \u00a0It doesn&#8217;t taste like a real bolognese (sausage, veal, etc.) but it is rich, hearty and doesn&#8217;t make you feel like you&#8217;re missing anything.\u00a0 It&#8217;s thick rich and awesomely flavorful.\u00a0 \u00a0The sauce retails for about $12.00 and you can buy it at Vine Street on Shelter Island, Cove Hollow Tavern in East Hampton, Harbor Market in Sag Harbor or order it online by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vinestreetcafe.com\/shop\/\"> clicking here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-5102 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/hamptonschatter.net\/chatter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Nounos.jpg?resize=373%2C498\" alt=\"Nounos\" width=\"373\" height=\"498\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Nounos Greek Yogurt<\/strong> &#8211; Real greek yogurt made right here in Southampton!\u00a0 Don&#8217;t let the fancy packaging intimidate you, this is like a trip to Mykonos without the hangover or Lindsay Lohan.\u00a0 This stuff is incredibly rich, flavorful and it&#8217;s low-fat!\u00a0 Nounos according to their website is all natural, hormone and anti-biotic free.\u00a0 \u00a0If you&#8217;re going to try one, I suggest the blueberry blend or mixed berry.\u00a0 \u00a0 You might have seen Nounos around town in places like the Golden Pear but probably didn&#8217;t know it&#8217;s local.\u00a0 Well it is and it&#8217;s good and you need to try it.\u00a0 \u00a0 A 5+ ounce\u00a0<span style=\"color: var(--color-neutral-600);\">container r<\/span><span style=\"color: var(--color-neutral-600);\">etails for about $4.00.\u00a0 \u00a0 If you don&#8217;t see it around town you can visit their<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nounoscreamery.com\/flavors\"> website<\/a><span style=\"color: var(--color-neutral-600);\"> to find local sellers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Hamptons Salt Company Black Truffle &#8211;\u00a0 When I was growing up my Lithuanian Grandmother used to love to cook for me.\u00a0 I always wonder if she actually liked me based on her stew.\u00a0 \u00a0 She would cook for my family more than I cared to admit and food had two flavors, salted or really salted.\u00a0 \u00a0Anyway, real chefs know the<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-5105 alignright\" style=\"color: var(--color-neutral-600);\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/hamptonschatter.net\/chatter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Hamptonssalt-1.jpg?resize=251%2C335\" alt=\"Hamptonssalt\" width=\"251\" height=\"335\" \/><\/p>\n<p>seasoning is as important as<\/p>\n<p>the actual cooking and there is nothing more crucial than the salt.\u00a0 \u00a0 I discovered this stuff at Red Horse Market in East Hampton and it was love first shake.\u00a0 \u00a0 My personal favorite recipe is slightly blanched brussel sprouts covered with a light olive oil and the Hamptons Salt Company Black Truffle seasoning.\u00a0 Awesomeness!\u00a0 \u00a0They also have a variety of salts including rosemary,<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: var(--color-neutral-600);\">ghost pepper and even lime.\u00a0 \u00a0Prices range from about $10 for a basic sea salt to $29 for the truffle.\u00a0 \u00a0 If you want more information or where you can buy <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hamptonssalt.com\/\">HSC click here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>So now you know why I haven&#8217;t blogged in a long time.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been cooking&#8230;. and eating.\u00a0 Now time to hop on the Peloton and burn off all the extra calories.\u00a0 Hopefully I&#8217;ll be back again soon.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s not as glamorous as it sounds but I was recently driving back from Philadelphia to the Hamptons.\u00a0 \u00a0 I know, I know&#8230;
