As we look forward to 2021, can we expect real estate to continue showing such promise? Here\u2019s what four experts have to say about the year ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/time-com.cdn.ampproject.org\/c\/s\/time.com\/nextadvisor\/mortgages\/mortgage-predictions-2021\/amp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Lawrence Yun,&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>Chief Economist<\/strong><\/em><strong>,<\/strong><em><strong>&nbsp;National Association of Realtors<\/strong><\/em><strong>&nbsp;(NAR)<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cIn 2021, I think rates will be similar or modestly higher, maybe 3%&#8230;So,&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>mortgage rates will continue to be historically favorable<\/em><\/strong><em>.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/brendarichardson\/2020\/12\/16\/experts-predict-what-the-housing-market-will-be-like-in-2021\/?sh=5889695236dc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Danielle Hale,&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>Chief Economist<\/strong><\/em><strong>,&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>realtor.com<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cWe expect&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>sales to grow 7 percent<\/em><\/strong><em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>prices to<\/em><\/strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>rise another 5.7 percent on top of 2020\u2019s already high levels<\/em><\/strong><em>.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/brendarichardson\/2020\/12\/16\/experts-predict-what-the-housing-market-will-be-like-in-2021\/?sh=5889695236dc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Robert Dietz,&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>Senior Vice President and Chief Economist<\/strong><\/em><strong>,&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>National Association of Home Builders<\/strong><\/em><strong>&nbsp;(NAHB)<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cWith home builder confidence near record highs,&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>we expect continued gains for single-family construction<\/em><\/strong><em>, albeit at a lower growth rate than in 2019. Some slowing of new home sales growth will occur due to the fact that a growing share of sales has come from homes that have not started construction. Nonetheless,&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>buyer traffic will remain strong<\/em><\/strong><em>&nbsp;given favorable demographics, a&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>shifting geography of housing demand to lower-density markets<\/em><\/strong><em>&nbsp;and historically low interest rates.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.firstam.com\/economics\/why-the-big-short-in-housing-supply-will-remain-in-2021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mark Fleming,&nbsp;<em>Chief Economist, First American<\/em><\/a><\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cMortgage rates are expected to remain low for the foreseeable future and&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>millennials will continue forming households, keeping demand robust<\/em><\/strong><em>, even if income growth moderates.
